Dear Parents and Guardians

Tena Koutou Katoa

At the end of 2007 we had our inaugural Middle School (Year 9 and 10) Graduation ceremony for the middle school graduation diploma. Most Year 10 students graduated, 14% with Merit and 6% with excellence.

Stephanie Baddock graduated with distinction with a GPA of 96%, she was awarded the National Bank Top Scholar Award with a $500 account set up for tertiary study. She also topped all Year 10 core subjects: Mathematics, English, Science and Social Studies, an outstanding achievement.

Congratulations also to the following students:

Stacey Martin on her selection for the NZ Secondary Schools’ Touch team.  Stacey is also a member of the NZ Secondary Schools’ Netball team, so she is already a dual international!

Kimberley Burke who at the national Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships held in December won the

intermediate girls’ 3000m. A short time later she ran the 1500m in which she came a close second.

Ellen Dixon who has been selected for the Whistler Cup skiing

team to represent NZ in Canada.

Gabrielle Holdgate and Georgia Robertson who have been selected in the NZ Secondary Schools’ Beach

Volleyball squad.

Our staff have been very pleased with the excellent start to the current school year. Students have shown a positive attitude, have quickly settled into their class routines and seem motivated to achieve well in their study. Our goal is for every student to achieve their potential academically in a well disciplined, safe, positive and caring environment. All our staff are committed to this. If you have any concerns about your child at school please do make contact. Appointments should be made through the school office. In the Junior (Year 7/8) Faculty the first point of contact would normally be the homeroom teacher but you could also approach

the Head of Faculty, Mrs Hollyer, or the Deputy Head, Mr Tennant. At all other levels for pastoral matters the first contact would normally be the House Leader (Dean) or the whanau teacher, and for academic issues the year level Academic Coordinator or the Head of Faculty.

The House Leaders (Deans) are:

Blue House: Mr Glover

Green House: Mrs Hayward

Orange House: Mrs Johnston

Purple House: Mr Winiana

Red House: Mrs Ho

Yellow House: Mr Callachan
