How our System Works
Enrolments: Easy - just fill in the Enrolment Form and either post to Mahurangi College, P O Box 64, Warkworth, or pop it into the College. It is vital that you give a telephone number where we can ring you or leave a message - see Number 4.
If you enrol within 3 working days of the course starting date do so directly at the College. We advise you to confirm if the course is running.
No late enrolments after a course has started without the tutor’s approval.
1. Fees
Simple, you can either pay by cheque (payable to Mahurangi College), or pay at the College’s main office by EFTPOS or Mastercard/Visa anytime from Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm. Visitor parking available nearby.
Fees must be paid in full before the course starts.
You may be eligible for a training allowance from WINZ for some courses so check with them when you’ve decided on your courses.
Some courses are free - Homebuilders for instance run these as part of their service to the community. Others have negotiable fees, for the same reason. Neat, eh? Some courses are run in conjunction with other organisations so you pay them directly. It’ll state it in the blurb.
2. No news is good news
If you do not hear from us, your class will start at the time and date advertised so just arrive and we’ll show you where to go. We will not confirm your enrolment in this case.
3. Just the Opposite!
Not all classes start. If we do not receive enough enrolments in time, usually 3 working days before the starting date, a course may have to be cancelled/post-poned, alas. However, to try and get the course running, we do everything we can, which means we sometimes may not cancel until the last day/minutes even.
You will be notified by, usually by phone, if your course has been post-poned/cancelled. Naturally full refunds are given as soon as we can, or you can choose another course, (see Refunds below).
Decisions to cancel, post-pone or reduce the number of sessions to make a course viable are the responsibility of the co-ordinator. In the latter case the tutor is consulted beforehand.
4. Refunds
In full, if a class does not start. Or you can transfer it towards another course, or the same course later on.
If you notify us in writing about withdrawing, 3 working days before a class starts, we will give you a credit note to attend a future course. In humanitarian circumstances we will, of course, give you a full refund, minus a $10 administration fee. No refunds once a course has started.
5. Eligibility
Anyone can enrol if you are over 16 years young and are not a full-time secondary school student, (they just need the Principals written approval).
6. On using College facilities
Please park your car only in proper places, leave the rooms tidy and set up as you find them, no smoking anywhere on school grounds.
Thank you for your co-operation. Even little courtesies can help the world go round more easily.
7. On your first class
Bill Speed, our Liaison Officer, will be at the main Office to give you directions to your room.
