At the start of 2013 we saw some new faces which was encouraging for our future and we come into the new year with great new ideas. Another Fashion show is well in the planning, Winemaking is underway, we have booked another movie night and are keenly exploring a Mid year Cooking / Foodie Evening and the Xmas Gift Fair looks like making a return, and surprisingly we may even see the Tutus on Tour visit us again this year.
It great for us to be able to support the college financially with a donation of $3400 (from the fashion show) to contribute to fittings in the new B Block, to donate $1800 towards new tents for school camps, to buy a much needed bigger hot water urn for the auditorium (which make making those cups of tea and coffee that the PTA so often so just so much easier for us all) and our yearly head boy and head girl prizes. Plus of course we still have $14,000 earmarked for the Electronic Sign which is now being handled by the BoT but which WILL happen!!
As you can see we have been a small and hard working group of volunteers who accomplished huge amounts for our children and our school through our determined efforts. At times I feel that as Chairperson I am more well known than most and often get the praise and thanks for what we do. However, it is not possible to do what we do without those of us who come to meetings month in and month out, who bake and make soup when needed, who balance the books, take the minutes, cook the bbqs, sell the lollies and drinks and stand out in the rain and cold. Those who send the emails and make the phonecalls or visit the businesses for sponsorships or quotes, who put up the flyers. Those who direct the traffic, run the raffles, sell the tickets and who come up with the great ideas that make it all happen.
Those people are you all and each and every one of you should be proud about the effort that you have put in this (and for some of you for many years) – so I pass on to you all tonight the thank yous and well done that I get as your chairperson. Mahurangi College is lucky to have such dedicated and resourceful parents who care about their children and the school they go to that they give up their time and efforts so freely. Well done everyone and keep up the great work!!
Mahurangi College PTA
Anyone who has a child or children at the college is automatically a member of the PTA, how you use that membership is entirely up to you as we do need your support and help in many ways. If you can’t get to the meetings on the second Tuesday of the month, but can offer your help in other ways, please let us know.
