The Welcome Concert at the end of May was a resounding success with great support from the college and community. Laughton Kora (dressed in an actual penguin suit) creatively directed the concert with instrument teachers, Jenny Eirena, Vaughan Morgan, Helen Lee, William Northcott and Paul Hansen all giving their time to deliver a very professional concert along with expupils Nathan Shore, Heather Bell, Andrew Hayward, Anitra Hayday, Mikayla Thomas and Mitchell Houlbrooke. Amy Pyle and teachers Keith Tennant, Lyn Dashper and Wendy Sutherland all displayed their talents.
The variety of acts - everything from Puccini - Andrew Lloyd Webber - Hendrix - Fat Freddy's Drop culminating with Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody meant there was something for everyone.
The night was MC'ed by Nathan Shore, who also sang solos and duets through the night. Highlights included Laughton playing with his teeth and behind his back, a wonderul duet with Heather and Nathan and the finale of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody showed off all the different musical skills of the nights participants, especially the great violin solos by "rock chick" Lyn.
The audience were fantastic and the cast do appreciate all the wonderful feed back we have had. Just under $4000 was raised for the auditorium curtains and special thanks to all those involved as well as Jane Newby, the PTA and Miki Pogoni.
