The new hall was a perfect venue for our annual State of the Arts evening, One guest noted that ‘anything looks good in this hall’, I thought to myself that any venue looks great with our Senior Art on display! The evening kicked off with Anthony Macleod warmly welcoming guests in with the sweet sounds of ‘Piano Man’. Guests were treated to nibbles and drinks and wandered amongst the easels displaying some of our top Senior Photography, Design and Painting work.
The sweet sounds of Deborah Rabey and Madison Horton continued into the evening until we were invited to watch a snippet of the year 13 and year 11 Drama productions. Many guests were blown away by the outstanding performances and were sorely regretting missing the full-length versions held earlier in term two. The evening closed with a performance by Ae tu Kaan.
State of the Arts 2010 was a tribute to the hard work and dedication that our senior Art students put in to their studies and the vast and varied talent we have at Mahurangi College. Be sure to look out for upcoming performances and exhibitions by our senior students, the best is yet to come.
