Each year students are recognised for their achievements and successes in cultural activities, on the sports field and for academic excellence. Three separate evenings celebrate our students dedication and excellence in their discipline and students are awarded blues badges for excellence.

Due to Covid-19 we acknowledge that the opportunities to achieve a Blue in 2020 has diminished and this will be taken into consideration with the applications.

A Blues Award is a prestigious distinction that is presented to a student who has achieved outstanding success in a sporting activity. We are holding a special award assembly on Wednesday 28 October 2020 to acknowledge our elite athletes for their dedication and performance in their chosen sports, as well as those who have given back through service to their sport.

Every year Mahurangi College recognises outstanding academic achievement by awarding our highest achieving students at our Academic Blues evening. Held in February, the awards are given based on the previous year’s achievement, the results of which are made available in January.

Cultural Blues is a celebration of our students that excel in a cultural discipline such as dance, performing arts, music, and visual arts. Each year students that have excelled in these areas are invited to apply for a Blue. Our 2020 Cultural Blues were awarded during Senior Assembly on 16 September 2020.
