THE MAHURANGI EXPERIENCE

OUR TRIP PROGRAMME

NOTE: Costs are estimates only and will vary slightly based on student numbers. A minimum of five students is required for a trip to proceed. All transport is in a mini van (maximum of two vans only).

 

Parental permission is NOT required as trips are fully supervised by the College International Student Director. Costs include transport, accommodation, food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and ALL activities.

 

There are no ‘optional extras,’ except for the Bungy and Sky Dive in Queenstown. If tours are prepaid but do not go ahead, costs will be refunded in full to the student.

OREINTATION

TERM ONE

 

Introduction to the Warkworth township and our local area, including the Goat Island Marine Reserve and swimming at local beaches Snells Beach and Algies Bay.

TERM ONE - FOUR

 

Experience and shop at our local Malls. Enjoy a movie at the cinema afterwards.

Learn to surf with lessons at Omaha Beach.

THERMAL POOLS

TERM ONE - FOUR

 

Tackle the challenging High Ropes Confidence Course at Woodhill Forest Tree Adventures, followed by a hot thermal pools swim at Parakai Springs.

 

COST: $65 NZD PER TRIP

Day outing to Ten Pin Bowling and hot pools at Whangaparoa and Waiwera.

SOUTH ISLAND

TERM ONE AND THREE:

A 14 day tour of the South Island. North Island; Waitomo Glowworm Caves, Tongariro National Park, Lake Taupo. South Island via the

Cook Straight ferryMotueka for sea kayaking. Travel the West Coast to Hokitika (Greenstone Factories), Fox Glacier and Haast, to cross the mountains to Lake Wanaka (Puzzling World), Queenstown (optional Sky Dive and or Bungy), Milford Sound cruise, Lake Tekapo, Mt Cook, Kaikoura (Whale Watching).

 

COST: $1950 NZD PER TOUR

COROMANDEL

TERM TWO AND FOUR

A 3 day trip exploring the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula, south of Auckland. Highlights include: Hot Water Beach, Cathedral Cove, paintball and archery and the abandoned gold mines.

 

COST: $450 NZD PER TRIP

FAR NORTH

TERM TWO AND FOUR

A three day trip around both the west and east coasts of Northland; to far north at Cape Reinga, Waipoua Kauri Forest to see the giant Kauri tree Tane Mahuta, Hokianga harbour, sand dune ‘surfing,’ fishing expedition on the Bay of Islands at Paihia, or 'Swim with the Dolphins' cruise, glow worm caves at Waiomio.

COST: $550 NZD PER TRIP

ROTORUA

TERM TWO AND THREE

A 3 day trip experiencing Rotorua's scenic attractions; Agrodome, gondola and luge rides, Te Puia thermal area (geysers, mud pools) and Maori cultural show, white water rafting on Kaituna River (the world’s largest commercially rafted waterfall!)

COST: $600 NZD PER TRIP

 

During TERM 4, day outings (surfing, high ropes adventure course, shopping mall for souvenirs, ten pin bowling and thermal hot pools) and two tours will cover the gap between the end of tuition and the end of Term 4, for senior international students not participating in NCEA external exams.
