Welcome to Mahurangi College.
We are an incredibly warm, friendly and inclusive school. Our calm and purposeful environment and excellent behaviour are always noted by visitors to our school. Staff and students enjoy what they do together.
We teach both skills and knowledge, enabling our students to become responsible, well-rounded citizens, equipped with the tools to make effective choices for their futures.
Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to ensure all students are appropriately challenged. Explicit interactive teaching ensures all students secure the basics, before moving to more creative and collaborative applications of learning, as delivered by our STEAM programme.
Good manners are seen by our community as being really important, so we model and teach these to our students. Expectations for behaviour, built upon genuine mutual respect between staff and students, are very high and are founded on clear and consistent routines.
We refuse to wrap students in cotton wool. Mud and camps and bare feet are all part of the Mahurangi experience. The Living Classroom and the Hōteo Wero challenge are just two of our programs designed to ensure students are thriving socially and emotionally. Students grow to become well-rounded, talented and creative young adults who excel at university, or are highly sought after by employers.
Academic results continue to climb and are now comparable with the best schools in the country. As well, genuine life-long friendships are developed, and pride in the school continues to grow.
