Sports Blues
A Sport Blue award is a prestigious distinction that is presented to a student who has achieved outstanding success in sporting activities.
Our 2024 Blues Awards and Premier Teams sports awards evening will be held on Wednesday, October 16th.
This event recognizes the sporting successes of our young athletes throughout the year. Students whose applications are successful will receive an invitation to the event. Those who are not successful will receive an email notification on their application and encouragement to continue striving for excellence in their sports endeavours.

BLUES AWARD
This prestigious distinction is presented to a student who has achieved outstanding success in sporting activities. Blues recipients will receive a badge and a certificate.
To receive a BLUES AWARD, a student must:

Represent Mahurangi College in the particular sport (wherever possible).

Represent at the provincial level, e.g., Northland, North Harbour, Auckland.

Be in the highest possible provincial team specified for that age group or grade.

For individual sports, win a provincial title or be in a specified placing group, e.g., place in the top 3.

For team sports, win a provincial title in the highest grade, e.g., Rugby 1A 1st XV competition winner.

Show good sportsmanship, commitment to the team, lead by example, and perform outstandingly in their sport during the year.

Be selected for a tournament team at a provincial, regional, or national championship where specified.
ACHIEVERS AWARDS
Is awarded for those who have achieved at a National or International Level. Recipients shall receive a trophy to recognise their elite achievement to represent our country.
In order to receive an ACHIEVERS AWARD at least one of the following standards must be met. A student must:

Represent New Zealand in their sport as an individual or as part of a team

Win a National Title
MERIT AWARD
This award recognises the achievements of those who have excelled in sports but not to the highest standard, e.g., selection in a representative B team. These awards will be presented during year level assemblies held on 23 and 29 October.
To receive a MERIT AWARD, a student must:

Represent Mahurangi College in the particular sport (wherever possible).

Represent in B-grade teams at the provincial level, e.g., Northland, North Harbour, Auckland.

Show good sportsmanship, commitment to the team, lead by example, and perform outstandingly in their sport during the year.
