Teaching Assistant Vacancy at Mahurangi College assisting students with very high needs.

 

We are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant team to support students from Year 7 to Year 13 who have high and very high needs. This position is for 30.5 hours a week from the beginning of term 2 until the end of the year. It is a fixed term position.

We are a large team looking for someone who enjoys working collaboratively but who is also able to act autonomously and be able to provide support without always being instructed to do so.

 

This person will also take on assisting students with their personal cares such as toileting and feeding.

​

We require the successful candidate to be able to drive a school mini-van when transporting students on trips as well as being fit enough to accompany students on tramps such as going up Mount Tamahunga. Having an interest in the outdoors and some practical skills could be an advantage.

​

The successful candidate will be working with students who have severe autism and who need to use communication devices. We are looking for a team member who is comfortable with learning and practising this technology.
