Mahurangi College is seeking a committed and positive Teaching Assistant to join our Junior Faculty (Years 7 & 8). You’ll be part of a dynamic team supporting students’ learning, wellbeing, and behaviour through small-group booster sessions and our dedicated Kauri House support space.

 

This is a rewarding role suited to someone with:

• Strong interpersonal skills – especially with neurodiverse learners

• A calm, flexible approach to working with 11–13 year olds

• Confidence across basic literacy and numeracy

• A collaborative, team-focused attitude

• Reliability, professionalism, and a great sense of humour!

   

Key duties include:

• Running small booster groups (e.g. reading, basic maths)

• Recording attendance and student progress

• Helping manage routines in our Kauri House support area

• Communicating regularly with teachers and support staff

 

You’ll work closely with classroom teachers, our Learning Support Coordinator, and the Head of Faculty –Junior School. Training and support are provided, and there is scope for professional development over time.

 

Location: Mahurangi College, Warkworth

Start date: Term 1 2026, or by negotiation

Tenure: Fixed-term Full-time.

Hours: School hours, term-time only (exact hours to be confirmed)
